Positivity

Good Morning. Today I started my day well. The first email I opened was a newsletter that was so positive and uplifting I thought I would spread the feeling. Being a freelance writer can sometimes be quite depressing and this newsletter from the Writers Bureau made me feel positive and determined and ready to give my writing efforts 110%.

The main article in the newsletter was by Simon Whaley, a bestselling author and WB tutor, who tackled the issue of rejection letters very entertainingly. He pointed to the Murphy's Law that for every 10 query emails we send out, we'll receive 11 rejections. He said that the positive way to look at this is to be thankful we have ten ideas to send out.

There is a good link at the end of the newsletter to an article in the Independent dated the 6th of January 2008, called 'There's life (and a living) after rejection', which is very upbeat and encouraging. Don't forget to click on the link at the bottom which says 'Interesting? Click here to explore further'.

I wish everyone a happy, productive and posititive day.

Thinking positive is certainly the best way to live whether it be in our writing or other aspects of life. You are a good writer, and while I know how rejection can hurt, it can also be a stimulus to push us forward; not give up! Thanks for a very positive post! :)

I try to be positive and productive every day, not only in writing but in everything. Sometimes it's hard to be cheerful and determined all the time, but that's when I go and soak in a nice hot bath with lots of frothy smellies, read a book, and have a glass of wine.... then things start getting positive and productive again!!

Hi Dabrah,

I'm afraid I don't handle rejection very well. I just need to remember for one rejection there are lots and lots of acceptances.

I had trouble opening up the link to Life After Rejection (or something like that).

Thanks for your comments. I really liked that article, and Betty, I don't know if you've tried the link again but I think they were doing some maintenance on their website earlier today, and the link is working fine now. Donna thanks for positive comments. Sally, thank you. Ex-Shammickite, your solution to restarting positivity and productivity sounds like a good one.

I liked what Sally said, Thinking positive is certainly the best way to live whether it be in our blog writing. We all know how what it is like to feel rejection.

Good Morning Dabrah,
Just dropping by and trying to catch up with everyone. It was a busy weekend here and I didn't post or comment. I did post this morning tho. Girl, if you want to be a writer, then go for it. I do enjoy reading what you have on your blog. I get down sometimes when rejection comes along, but not all the time. It just depends on what kind of rejection it is. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
