Rickshaw Run

Natalie (my daughter) and Nick (her boyfriend) are going to race across India in a rickshaw, all in aid of Frank Water Projects, a charity that funds sustainable clean and safe drinking water projects in India. To find out more, click on the new link I've put on the left.

Nick is a keen photographer, and Natalie is an artist, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing what pictures, artwork and ideas they come back with.

Their "The Team" page on the Rickshaw Run is quite funny, and since it's the only page they've uploaded anything onto, I thought I'd include a link to it here.

Very funny slightly naughty joke

A friend sent me this joke in an email - I thought it was so funny I'd put it in a post and share it.

EAR HAIR

My neighbour found out her dog could hardly hear so she took it to the veterinarian. He found that the problem was hair in its ears. He cleaned both ears and the dog could hear fine.

The vet then proceeded to tell the lady that if she wanted to keep this from recurring she should go to the store and get some "Nair" hair remover and rub it in the dog's ears once a month.

The lady goes to the drug store and gets some "Nair" hair remover. At the register the druggist tells her, "If you're going to use this under your arms don't use deodorant for a few days."

The lady says: "I'm not using it under my arms."

The Chemist says: "If you're using it on your legs don't shave for a couple of days."
The lady says: "I'm not using it on my legs either; if you must know, I'm using it on my schnauzer."
The Chemist says: "Stay off your bicycle for a week."

Greetings from the big freezer

Going outside is like stepping into a big freezer. It is so so cold here.

The hospipe in the garden has grown icicles....

The birds' beaks are bouncing off the frozen berries on the tree....

And the world is white with frost and mist. It's quite spectacular. I must go now and sit by the radiator....

So cute

I just read this online, and I thought it was so cute. If you haven't read the article about the two little German kids who tried to elope, click on the link above. It really made me smile, and even chuckle a little.

It's snowing!

As you can see from the picture, it's snowing here. I woke up and got a lovely surprise when I pulled back the curtains. The world was covered in a bright white blanket of snow, and then it started to snow again, so I tried to be creative with my camera.
Of course, it's freezing outside, and just in time for this cold cold weather, a set of cable knit hat, gloves and scarf arrived from Donna of Made In Heaven . Thanks Donna, they're so soft and warm - just perfect for the chilly air outside.Yes, that's me taking my own picture in the mirror!
I hope 2009 is a wonderful year for everyone.

A Useful Christmas Tip

I have been so lazy about writing this blog recently. Actually I was sick with bronchitis for about 2 weeks! But I'm happy to say I'm better now.

I was moaning to someone about how boring wrapping presents is. If I do the wrapping at the dining table, I'm comfortable, but I get bored.

If I wrap presents in front of the TV, I don't get bored, but I get uncomfortable sitting on the floor, and tend to get into a mess losing stuff etc.

She suggested wrapping presents in front of the TV using the ironing board as a table. I've tried it, and it's a brilliant tip. If I want to stand, I raise the ironing board. If I want to sit down, I lower it to whichever height is most comfortable for me. And the board is long enough that I can keep all the bits and pieces like scissors and tape handy and still have room to cut up paper and wrap.

Now why did I never think of that by myself?
